Interviews
Zugizland.com & Syn

ZI.Com: Cracked Tiles dropped out on the world this Tuesday, January 28, 2003. How does it feel to have your first album out?

Syn: Crazy, crazy cool. The album has the missing pieces to the puzzle that has been out there since the first MP3s were released to the Web.

ZI.Com: What does the title Cracked Tiles refer to?

Syn: Well it came about from Violent J. Marble tiles are so perfect at first, but through the years they get all cracked up. I don't think this is stale 'cause it give them history just like with people. You are born innocent, but through life you get cracked up.

ZI.Com: So you could say it is a metaphor for life?

Syn: Yeah, that's it a metaphor for life.

ZI.Com: Where does the name Zug Izland come from and how does it affect the music?

Syn: Man, the name doesn't affect the music, the music comes from the bottom depths of our souls. Zug Island is this crazy dope place in middle of the Detroit River. It is an old industrial dumping ground where shit just oozes out. Most O.G. Juggalos know what it is all about. It is where ICP and the Zug Thugs come out from. I remember that they found some thing like 12 dead bodies, just floating off Zug Island. All kinds of shit from Detroit ends up there.

ZI.Com: I heard that after the Kings X tour, you have another tour being lined up with Skid Row. How does it feel to have that totally dedicated "on-the-road" lifestyle?

Syn: It feels great!! We are definitely road dogs. Being on the road is the shit!! While you are just sitting there in your office throwing me questions, me and Little Pig are chilling by the pool, showing off our winter fat. Going out on tour with Skid Row is still up in the air, but it would be the shit.

ZI.Com: What is your impression of Kings X?

Syn: They have kick-ass vocal harmonies. I wasn't much of a fan before, but their vocal harmonies are un-fuck-it-able. But they can't fuck with Syn's vocals because I'd be steady thugging in their face.

ZI.Com: Did you listen to Kings X in your youth?

Syn: Not really, I had heard some of the songs on the radio, you know "Music, Music can you feel..." (singing)

ZI.Com: With what songs are you going to start and finish your sets?

Syn: We are going to open that bitch up with Sunny Day and get the Juggalos up to the front. We will probably be closing most nights with Black Sabbath's War Pigs, as a tribute since they were the first wicked rock & roll band. Even though Ozzie is only a shell of a man now we still dig him.

ZI.Com: So are you excited about opening your first show, with Kings X, tonight in St. Petersburg, FL?

Syn: Shit, we are all filled with anticipation about doing this show. We drove down from D-town to Florida yesterday in our cramped up vans and we can't wait until we start playing in front of crowds. I am hanging from Gold Star's ceiling tonight ( if I can reach it). I will open this show with a bang if I can find something high enough to jump off of, I will do it. We want to flip everyone's wigs back.

ZI.Com: Where did you come up with the name Syn?

Syn: From Violent J in the studio, the Lotus Pod. We were throwing around some ideas for a name then it occurred to me, what are the things I like doing the most: premarital sex, fucking two girls at the same time, kicking old people and wearing priest hookups. These things are all sins and I do them all.

ZI.Com: How's the new guy holding up?

Syn: His name is B Nester Hendricks, for real. Remember that name. He is a down-ass ninja with un-fuck-it-able skills. When bands get a new member they start producing a slightly different sound, Guido is the shit but B Nester Hendricks is a thug. He plays with tinfoil on his thumb, raw as fuck. He farts a lot, which can be a problem in the cramped up vans.

ZI.Com: How is Cracked Tiles doing in the stores?

Syn: People are having a hard time finding it because after coming off the block, sales have been devastating. It is out there, you just got to look for it a little. I went up to the store to buy the CD as soon as it came out. They had about 20 of them when I went, but when my friends went up there to buy Cracked Tiles there were none left. I just want to say we are straight up Juggalos, we don't give a fuck about the money; we just want enough to be out here on the road.

ZI.Com: When will your second single Cry, be playing on the radio?

Syn: We plan to release that in late February. We expect Cry to get even more radio heat than our first single Fire.

ZI.Com: Is there anything else you would like to your fans out there?

Syn: What the fuck, get out to the shows, be ready to catch me and smoke your blunts so I can get a hit. Also, props to ICP, Twiztid, Blaze, ABK, Esham, Alex Abbiss, and everyone at PSychopathic. And thanks to the fans for giving us a chance and listening with an open ear.
